A Brief Summary of the Application Process

Eligible applicants are those who have commercially published several works in the UK for a general readership and are suffering financial hardship. The application form requests details of all income and expenditure, and a member of staff will subsequently arrange to meet with new applicants at their homes. Literary merit must be established by the RLF committee before a grant is considered, and applicants are requested to send copies of published work with their completed applications forms. (Books stemming from a parallel career as an academic or practitioner are not eligible. The Fund is also unable to provide loans, or grants for projects, work in progress or publication costs.) A decision on the literary merit and on the award of a grant is made at the same meeting, and the outcome is made known to the applicant immediately after that. Meetings are held eleven times a year.

If you wish to request an application form please contact Eileen Gunn at the address below or by email providing a list of your publications including names of publishers, dates, and whether sole author.
