A Brief Summary of the Application Process

Eligible applicants are those who have published several works for a general readership and are suffering financial hardship. The application form requests details of all income and expenditure, and the General Secretary will subsequently arrange to meet with new applicants at their homes. Literary merit must be established by the RLF committee before a grant is considered, and applicants are requested to send copies of published work with their completed applications forms. (Books stemming from a parallel career as an academic or practitioner are not eligible. The Fund is also unable to provide loans, or grants for projects or work in progress.) A decision on the literary merit and on the award of a grant is made at the same meeting, and the outcome is made known to the applicant immediately after that. Meetings are held eleven times a year.

If you wish to request an application form please contact the General Secretary at the address below or by email providing a list of your publications including names of publishers, dates, and whether sole author.
