Cath Senker
Cath Senker
Fellow at University of Sussex, 2008-10

Cath Senker is a children's non-fiction writer who specializes in writing about modern history, global issues and world religions. She has a particular interest in the topics of migration, refugees and racism; her recent titles include Global Village: Migration (Evans Brothers, 2008), Why are People Asylum Seekers? (Franklin Watts, 2008) and Talk about Racism (Wayland, 2008). Over the past year, she has written four books for young children in collaboration with refugee families themselves (Moving to Britain, Franklin Watts, 2008). In her work, Cath aims to highlight individuals' experiences and to present different viewpoints in a non-judgemental way as a basis for discussion.

Cath also works as an editor on non-fiction titles for both children and adults, and has edited academic papers. Before embarking on a freelance career, she worked as a project manager for a children's educational publishing company for eight years. In this job she was responsible for all stages of book production from initial concept to printing. She is also an experienced ESOL teacher and currently teaches English to local refugees and asylum seekers on a voluntary basis. Cath lives in Brighton with her partner and two daughters.
