Anne Rouse, a native of Virginia, read history at the University of London. She subsequently worked in the NHS and for a mental health charity. Her poetry has appeared in many periodicals, such as the Independent, Observer, Atlantic Monthly and TLS. Both of her collections, Sunset Grill and Timing, were Poetry Book Society Recommendations. A third, The School of Night, was published in 2004. She has held workshops, readings, or residencies in a number of settings, from the Almeida Theatre to Tate Modern.
