Mario Petrucci thrives on challenge. Whether you are looking for an enthusiastic poet in residence, or an experimental cross-disciplinary practitioner, he is known as a writer of experience, flexibility and innovation. Mario likes fresh ideas, cooperatively expressed, and supports this with good organisational skills. He has taught and written in residencies of all types, and tailors his input to the needs of the project in hand. He is equally at home assisting undergraduates with seminar presentations and study skills, as he is leading a creative writing workshop centred on chaos theory.

Historical and bi-cultural themes feature in much of Mario's work, but he has an equal reputation for creating interfaces between literature and disciplines as varied as ecology and physics. He is the only poet to have been in residence at the Imperial War Museum, where he now lectures on war poetry and devises new approaches to captioning for educational applications ('Multi-Captions'). As co-founder of ShadoWork, Mario delivers collaborative performance and voice-training projects for London Arts and the Arts Council.

Among the major international awards Mario has earned for his poetry are the London Writers Competition (twice) and the Bridport Prize. His 'Poeclectic' take on contemporary poetry is to be featured in the 2nd edition of the English Studies Book (Routledge). His poetry performances attract international recognition (for example, with the British Council) and he works widely in universities and schools both in a freelance capacity and as a member of the Poetry Society's Poetryclass project. He continues to contribute to academic and scientific journals, working in specialist areas such as Site-specific Public Poetry.

Collections include the PBS-Recommended Shrapnel and Sheets (Headland) and the PBS-featured Bosco (Hearing Eye).
