Sophie Hannah is a best-selling novelist and poet. Her latest crime novel, Hurting Distance, has just been published in hardback by Hodder & Stoughton and was described in The Times as ‘a superbly creepy, twisty thriller about obsessive love, psychological torture and the darkest chambers of the human heart’. Her first crime novel, Little Face, was published last year and has so far sold 85,000 copies. Translation rights in both novels have been sold to ten countries so far. Sophie’s Selected Poems were published by Penguin in 2006, and her next poetry collection, Pessimism for Beginners, will be published by Carcanet in autumn 2007. In 1995, Sophie won an Eric Gregory Award for her first collection, The Hero and the Girl Next Door. In 2003, her collection First of the Last Chances was selected for the Poetry Book Society’s ‘Next Generation’ promotion, intended to promote the best twenty poets to emerge in the last ten years. Sophie’s first short story collection, The Fantastic Book of Everybody’s Secrets, will be published by Sort Of Books in 2008.
