About

Author of around fifty novels published under various names, including Jeremy Balchin Gardner, Jerome Gardner, Paul Sully, Paul Tully and John Gilchrist. Following the 1960 publication of his debut novel Summer Palace, set in wartime Malta and written under his own name, Gardner wrote mostly Western or Adventure novels for the popular lending library market between 1970-1995. He also wrote non-fiction and travel. Titles include: Trail Out of Leavenworth, Pistolero, Frenchman’s Brand, Heist at Apache Pass, Lucky Cowpoke, Wagon to Hangtown, The Bounty Scalper, The Owlhoot Convention, The Wishbook Wife, Hot Gun. As John Gilchrist: Birdbrain, Out North, Lifeline, The English Corridor. As Paul Tully: The Horsing Blackmsmith, The Bond Jumper, The Strychnine Stand-Off, Night-Hawk.

The illustrated dust cover of his Gardner’s first novel Summer Palace is credited to Audrey Blanshard, an alias of Audrey Gardner, who authored romance and historical novels for the library market herself, and was perhaps married or related to Jeremy Gardner, or possibly another pseudonym.
