Working with an RLF Fellow

RLF Fellows are professional writers who offer individual appointments where students can discuss all aspects of their writing, such as structuring an argument, making the essay clearer and improving style. The sessions are free, confidential and independent of the university.

During our tutorial, your encouragement and feedback on my academic writing was a big boost to my confidence in my writing ability, and as you know, I went on to get a 1st class-awarded dissertation.”

Failing the first assignment knocked my confidence tremendously, so I immediately booked a session, and the RLF Fellow was amazing! They reminded me of things I had learnt previously and showered me with praise, giving me back the confidence I lost.

After our first meeting, I felt that I had finally met someone who cared about my intellectual progress … The one-on-one format offered through the RLF gave me a space where I could learn the skills that the university did not provide. In our sessions, I always felt that you had time for me and were genuinely interested in helping me achieve my academic goals.

Just wanted to let you know I got a distinction … I honestly can’t believe that! Your support this year has given me so much confidence. Thanks again!

I’d just like to say thank you so much for all your time and effort and all the useful tips you have given me, including the reading-out-loud one, which is practically ingrained in my head for life.

StudentBrunel University

I really appreciated looking at the idea of flow, argument and how to link paragraphs.
