About
Michael Robson was a prolific Radio dramatist of over 30 original plays and several adaptations. ‘One of that elite of radio dramatists who wrote prolifically for the medium at a very high level. He was a major contributor between 1974 and 1989, writing in those fifteen years over thirty original plays, about half of them for “Saturday Night Theatre”. He also produced adaptations of the work of other writers.’ (Barry Pike, for Sutton Elms radio drama archive).
His film screenplay adaptations include The 39 Steps (1978) and two film adaptations of Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons (1984). For television he created and wrote the series Hannay and contributed many episodes to series such as The House of Eliott, Howard’s Way and In Suspicious Circumstances. Michael Robson was an RLF beneficiary as well as a supporter.
Legacy
His gift of Royalties to the RLF from his literary estate helps support future generations of writers.
