Alison Fell

Alison Fell has published eight novels, including Mer de Glace (which won the 1991 Boardman-Tasker award for mountain literature), The Pillow Boy of the Lady Onogoro and The Mistress of Lilliput. Of her four collections of poetry, Kisses for Mayakovsky won the Alice Hunt Bartlett prize in 1984. Her most recent collection is Lightyear, a collaboration with her son Ivan Coleman, who heads the photography studio at Goldsmiths, London.

She has tutored extensively at the City Literary Institute and the Arvon Foundation, and has taught masterclasses on poetry, the novel and the short story for the Poetry School, as well as holding writing fellowships in Sydney and at the University of East Anglia. From 2003 until 2006 she was AHRC research fellow in creative and performing arts at Middlesex University, and she now teaches on the creative writing MA at the University of Southampton. Her most recent novel The Element -inth in Greek, set in contemporary and prehistoric Crete, was published in 2012.
