Anna Woodford
Poet
Anna Woodford is the author of six poetry books and pamphlets: EVERYTHING IS PRESENT (Salt, 2025), Changing Room (Salt, 2018), Birdhouse (Salt, 2010), Party Piece (Smith Doorstop, 2009), Trailer (Five Leaves, 2008) and The Higgins’ Honeymoon (2003). She has won an Authors’ Foundation award, an Eric Gregory award, a PBS recommendation, an Arvon/Jerwood apprenticeship and two Northern Writers’ awards. Her poetry has been well reviewed in the TLS and Grazia, among others.
Anna Woodford has written six collections of poetry and has received two awards from the Society of Authors. Based in Newcastle, she has over twenty years’ experience delivering workshops in diverse settings from hospices to cathedrals, working with groups from ex-miners to gardeners. From 2019-2022, she was an RLF Fellow at the School of English at Newcastle University, then, from 2022-2024, she worked with trainee nurses and midwives at Northumbria University. She is currently an RLF Writing for Life Fellow working with NHS Recovery Colleges. She loves the variety of her work and the new experiences and perspectives it brings.
