About

David Lloyd is a prolific television scriptwriter who has written for EastEnders and Casualty, as well as over 60 episodes of the daytime drama series Doctors. Previous work as a writer for Children’s TV includes Maid Marian and her Merry Men (with Tony Robinson and Mark Billingham), Harry’s Mad (with Mark Billingham), The Gnarfs, School for Little Vampires, Loggerheads, Musical Tales and a series of educational videos for the Letterland reading system.

David has also devised and taught a diploma course on ‘Writing For Performance’ at the department of drama at Bristol University. He is currently working on his first novel. David has enjoyed a parallel career as an actor. He played Oscar Madison in The Odd Couple and Douglas Beechey in Man of The Moment (York Theatre Royal) as well as Joe Gargery in Great Expectations (Salisbury Playhouse). His numerous TV appearances include Graeme in 27 episodes of the BAFTA award-winning Maid Marian and her Merry Men, EastEnders, Casualty, The Bill, Brookside, ’Allo ’Allo!, The Young Ones, Waking The Dead, The Vice, Poirot, Peak Practice and The Vice.

David lives in Backwell near Bristol. He is a qualified ECB cricket umpire and youth coach. In 2014 he was immensely proud to be awarded his county cap as a Somerset Seniors cricketer. For nine years he was stadium announcer at Bristol City football club. David’s love of food means he tries to walk as much as he can, and he has enjoyed trekking adventures in the Andes and the Himalayas.
