About

Gareth Creer is currently published by Faber & Faber under the pseudonym Adam Creed. His Staffe series of novels has been translated into nine languages and optioned for adaptation by ITV. The series includes Suffer the Children, Willing Flesh, Pain of Death, Death in the Sun, and Kill and Tell. He has also had three literary novels under his own name published by Transworld: Skin and Bone, Cradle to Grave, and Big Sky. For four years he was writer-in-residence at HM Young Offenders’ Institute Glen Parva; he then conceived and ran the Free To Write project, funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, supporting inmates and ex-offenders in pursuit of their writing. Run in conjunction with HM Prison Liverpool and Merseyside Probation services, the project ran for six years and culminated in the Free To Write anthology, published by Headland in 2013. He taught Creative Writing at Liverpool John Moores University for fourteen years and was Head of Writing there for seven years before retiring to concentrate on his own novels in 2014. He has also written widely on the pedagogy of writing, most notably for Edinburgh University Press and Palgrave. From 2015 onwards, he is writing a series of stand-alone literary thrillers, developing his acclaimed hard-boiled style and drawing on his experience of working with marginalised writers. He is also working on an original screenplay and, when not in the UK, will be living and writing in Andalucia where he has lived on and off for twenty years.
