About

Nikki Sheehan is an award-winning YA author, journalist, mentor and creative writing teacher. She has published six books, both fiction and nonfiction for young people. She is the author of a biography of Stephen Hawking, and her most recent adult/YA novel looked at the plight of a young boy following earthquakes in Haiti. She has been shortlisted for, and won, several awards, and her books Swan Boy and Goodnight, Boy were both nominated for the Carnegie Medal. Nikki’s writing has taken her around the world, including giving talks and workshops in Europe and Africa. She is passionate about nurturing creativity, and worked for several years with writing charity Little Green Pig helping children to express themselves in new ways. Since graduation, Nikki has worked as a writer in many different formats; she began as a subtitler for TV, then worked as a journalist and copywriter. She is currently studying screenwriting and believes that all types of writing can be learned. She returned to study after a gap of many years, and has an appreciation of the difficulties that students can encounter with academic writing. She lives in Hove and enjoys sea swimming and running with her two dogs.
