About
Sid Sagar is an actor, playwright and screenwriter. His play Biting Point (Faber, 2025) explores road rage and race and was produced in car parks across the North East of England. His audio dramas include Middle Men (BBC Radio 4), a comedy about football referees, and John from Hemel (BBC Radio 4, shortlisted for Best Original Single Drama at the BBC Audio Drama awards 2026), inspired by the Magic Roundabout in Hemel Hempstead. His first short film, Baked Beans, was produced by BFI NETWORK and is a comedy-drama about an actor in the midst of an identity crisis. He is passionate about finding the humour, heart and humanity in ordinary voices.
Sid read History at the University of Bristol before training as a playwright on schemes at Soho Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Almeida Theatre and The London Library. In 2023, he was selected for the Channel 4 Screenwriting Course and the Oxbelly Episodic Programme in Greece. He was recently the Jerwood writer in residence at Pentabus, the nation’s rural theatre, as well as a recipient of a Peter Shaffer Commission from the National Theatre. He is currently developing work for Mammoth Screen, Hampstead Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Sid grew up in India, Kenya, Spain and Russia before moving to England at the age of eight. Beyond acting and writing, he has experience as a tutor, facilitator, mentor, delivery driver and football referee.
