About

Ian Marchant is a writer and performer. He has published two novels, In Southern Waters (1999) and The Battle For Dole Acre (2001), and two travel books, Parallel Lines (2003) and The Longest Crawl (2006). He co-wrote the play, White Open Spaces, premiered at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival.

Ian is a seasoned performer whose appearances include the Glastonbury Festival, Hay Literature Festival, Ways With Words at Dartington, Exeter tEXt, Abergavenny Food Festival, Ilkley Literature Festival, and Lancaster Litfest. A CD of his songs was released in 1997.

He taught creative writing at City University, and from 2002-06 was centre director for the Arvon Foundation at Totleigh Barton in north Devon. He lives in Presteigne on the Welsh Marches.
