Welcome to our new trustees, Kerry Glencorse and Andrew McMillan

Over the summer, the Royal Literary Fund (RLF) welcomed two new trustees, Kerry Glencorse and Andrew McMillan to our General Committee.

Our Chief Executive Edward Kemp said of the appointments: “We are thrilled to have Kerry and Andrew join us on our board of trustees.  Over the coming years we know their knowledge, experience, expertise and – above all – their enthusiasm and passion for the written word will be invaluable in helping the RLF support writers through the provision of our hardship grants, and our education and outreach programmes.”

Introducing our new Trustees 

Kerry Glencorse is Head of Partnerships at the Mayor’s Fund for London. She moved into the third sector after a twenty-year career in publishing as a literary agent, most recently as director of the London office of Susanna Lea Associates, an international agency with offices in Paris and New York. She previously worked in translation rights at David Godwin Associates and in illustrated books at Éditions Flammarion in Paris.

Across her career she has worked with a wide range of fiction and non-fiction writers including literary prize winners and international bestsellers. Kerry has served on English PEN’s Writers in Translation Committee and participated in the University of East Anglia’s Creative Writing mentorship programme. She co-authored Fifty Shelves of Grey under the pseudonym Vanessa Parody.

Kerry said of her appointment:

I am delighted to have joined the board of trustees of the Royal Literary Fund. Books have always been an intrinsic part of my life, as an avid reader from childhood and throughout my time as a literary agent. Writers, and their ability to touch what is most human in us, are more vital than ever in our increasingly AI-permeated world. The extraordinary heritage of the RLF, and the writers it has supported over the last two centuries, are a testament to the enduring value of literature. I am excited to contribute to an organisation that recognises the importance of writers and the challenges they face, and provides the support necessary for them to continue to create for generations to come.

Andrew McMillan (MBE, FRSL) is the author of three poetry collections, a novel and the co-editor of the anthology 100 Queer Poems.

His work has been widely translated across Europe, and has won the Guardian First Book Award, the only poetry collection to ever do so, as well as a Somerset Maugham Award, an Eric Gregory Award, the Polari Prize and a Northern Writers’ Award, amongst others. He has been shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize, The Forward Prizes and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year. He is Professor of Contemporary Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University and a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He was made an MBE for Services to Literature in the 2026 New Year’s Honours. A fourth collection, partings, will be published in February 2027.

Andrew said of his appointment:

I am honoured and excited to be joining the RLF as a trustee. The RLF do such vital work in supporting, encouraging , employing and sustaining writers across all genres and I’m thrilled the join in this work, at a time when it is needed more than ever.
