Non-fiction writer, Novelist

About

Ali Knight is a novelist and journalist. Her four contemporary, stand-alone crime novels are set in London. A proponent of domestic noir, Ali writes books which unpeel family secrets and examine the violence, compromises and lies at the heart of our closest relationships.

Wink Murder (Hodder, 2011), about a wife who becomes suspicious that her husband has murdered his researcher, was chosen by the Independent as one of its books of the year, has been translated into eleven languages and turned into a television drama script. The First Cut (Hodder, 2012), in which a young woman tries to understand why her best friend was murdered, is ‘One of the best crime novels to take on holiday’ (the Daily Telegraph). Until Death (Hodder, 2014), about a young mother desperate to escape from her controlling husband, was published to critical acclaim. Ali’s latest book, The Silent Ones (Hodder, 2015), is called ‘fiendishly clever’ by the Daily Mail. She is currently writing her fifth novel.

Before becoming a novelist Ali worked for more than fifteen years as a journalist and sub-editor on a variety of national newspapers including the Observer, the Guardian, the Daily Mail and the European. She also trained as an English as a foreign language teacher and taught students on a one-to-one basis in Paris, Bologna and London.

Ali lives in London with her family and a psychotic cat and watches far too much sport on TV.
