Angela Turvey

About

Angela Turvey was born in east London to Jamaican parents and grew up in Essex. She writes for television, radio and the stage. Her broadcast work for radio includes the Woman’s Hour Serial, several original plays and a short story. Her play, Barrel Boy, won the RIMA award for radio drama in 2002.

For television, she has written for Eastenders and for Doctors (BBC1), as well as for Channel 4. She has also co-created continuing drama series for Pearson Television and Scottish Media Group. Her work has toured nationally with Theatre Centre and she has been the recipient of an Arts Council Theatre Writing Bursary.

Angela has facilitated creative writing workshops in schools and colleges all over London and enjoys helping students on a one-to-one basis to develop their work.
