Non-fiction writer, Novelist
About
Beth Miller is a novelist and nonfiction writer. Her first two novels were When We Were Sisters (Ebury, 2014) and The Good Neighbour (Ebury, 2015). More recently she’s published The Two Hearts of Eliza Bloom (Bookouture, 2019), which tells the story of Eliza, an Orthodox Jewish girl who runs away on the day of her arranged marriage; and The Missing Letters of Mrs Bright (Bookouture, 2020), a Kindle top-forty bestseller, in which fifty-something Kay Bright decides it’s not too late to change her life, and goes in search of an old friend. Two more novels are in the pipeline: Starstruck, which will be published by Farrago, about a famous singer and the tribute artist who impersonates her; and The Legacy (working title), which will be published by Bookouture, about a woman whose estranged father leaves her a life-changing bequest. The linking factor across all six novels is that they feature multi-layered female characters, who are defined by friendship and career rather than their love-life. Beth’s two nonfiction books, published by Summersdale, are For the Love of The Archers (2015), a guide to the popular long-running radio drama, and For the Love of Shakespeare (2016), an accessible guide to his plays, poetry, life and legacy. Alongside writing books, Beth works as a coach and mentor for other writers, and has taught creative writing for six years, including for the Arvon Foundation. She previously worked as a journalist, a sexual health educator and a psychology lecturer, and has a PhD in psychology.
