Curtis Jobling

Curtis Jobling is an award-winning author and illustrator of numerous books for children of all ages, as well as creator and designer of various beloved animated series. His first novel in the Wereworld fantasy horror series, Rise of the Wolf, was shortlisted for the Waterstones’ book prize. Other works include the Max Helsing and Haunt series of novels. With an extensive background in television, as designer of BAFTA-winning Bob the Builder, and creator of Frankenstein’s Cat and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, Curtis is currently adapting his novels into drama and animation for broadcast.

Having visited schools, universities and festivals across the UK and overseas for over twenty years, Curtis promotes a love of literacy by delivering writing workshops and talks on creative industries. He is the patron of reading at three schools in the UK and an international school in the US and is also patron of the Manchester Children’s Book festival, reaching young people in some of the city’s most deprived and disadvantaged districts. As a committee member of the Society of Authors children’s writers and illustrators group, Curtis actively campaigns for the provision of libraries in every school and provides guidance to writers and artists taking their first steps into careers in publishing.

In addition to adapting his work, Curtis is presently writing a number of new manuscripts, including a middle-grade fantasy and a novel for adults. He lives with his wife, children and menagerie in Warrington, Cheshire.
