About
Guinevere Glasfurd is a critically acclaimed novelist. She is the author of two published novels and a third which is forthcoming. Her debut novel, The Words in My Hand (Two Roads Books, 2016), was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel award, the Authors’ Club Best First Novel award, and longlisted in France for the Prix du Roman Fnac. Her second novel, The Year Without Summer (Two Roads Books, 2020), is a novel of climate crisis and breakdown. It was shortlisted for the 2020 Historical Writers’ Association Gold Crown award and was recently longlisted for the 2021 Walter Scott prize for Historical Fiction. Her third novel will be published by Two Roads Books in 2022 and is a story of censorship and book publishing during the Enlightenment. She is in receipt of grants from Arts Council England, the British Council, and the Society of Authors and was a MacDowell Fellow in 2018. Her short fiction has appeared in Mslexia, The Scotsman and in a collection from the National Galleries of Scotland. She is currently at work on a series of stories that explore the link between the Scottish Enlightenment and chattel slavery in the British West Indies. Guinevere was born in Lancaster and spent most of her life in the north before moving south to take up work at the University of Essex. She now lives near Cambridge with her husband and daughter.
