Described by Chiron Review as ‘the finest love poet of his generation’, Ian Parks was one of the Poetry Society New Poets in 1996. His previous collections include Shell Island (2006), Love Poems 1979-2009 and The Landing Stage. His poems have appeared in Agenda, Poetry Review, the Times Literary Supplement, the Observer, Modern Poetry in Translation, the Independent on Sunday, London Magazine and Poetry (Chicago). He received a Hawthornden Fellowship in 1991, a Travelling Fellowship to the USA in 1994, and has taught creative writing at the universities of Sheffield, Oxford, Hull, and Leeds. He is poetry editor at Endymion magazine and is currently editing A Version of the North – a new anthology of contemporary Yorkshire Poetry for Five Leaves Publications. His latest collection, The Exile’s House, is published by Waterloo Press and his versions of poems by the modern Greek poet, Constatine Cavafy, The Cavafy Variations, is due from Rack Press in 2013. He lives in Mexborough, South Yorkshire.
