About

Jen Green is a writer of non-fiction for children and adults, specialising in history, nature/environment, geography, science and social issues. With a freelance writing career spanning nearly 20 years, she has published more than 300 books, many of which have been translated. Recent works include biographies of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi, and an audiobook on the solar system. Jen has written numerous articles for encyclopedias, books and journals, including ‘Writing Successful Non-fiction’ for the Children’s Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook (Bloomsbury, 2014). As an author she relishes the challenge of communicating complex ideas in clear and graphic language.

Before becoming a freelance writer, Jen completed her doctorate at Sussex University, while teaching and examining undergraduate courses in English literature. She then worked in publishing for many years, as an editor and later commissioning editor, helping writers of both fiction and non-fiction to realise their full potential. She continues to work as an editor and consultant, regularly assisting writers and also students with books, dissertations and theses. She lives by the Sussex Downs with her partner and dog.
