John Hands

John Hands is an internationally acclaimed author of two non-fiction books and three novels.

John’s first book, Housing Co-operatives, was supplemented by a television documentary More Than a Place To Live, which he scripted and presented, that was broadcast twice on BBC2. It led to his appointment as the Director of a new Government body, the Co-operative Housing Agency.

After leaving the Agency John turned to fiction. His first novel, Perestroika Christi, dramatized the clandestine struggle between the Vatican and the Kremlin for the soul of Russia and its Soviet empire. It was published in the UK by Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, and Book Club Associates (Editor’s Choice). He followed this by Darkness at Dawn and Brutal Fantasies. He has been published in seven other countries, from the USA to Russia, and was shortlisted for the Deo Gloria Prize.

John graduated in chemistry. In the UK he has tutored in both physics and in management studies for the Open University, lectured in creative writing at the University of North London, and currently gives workshops on Creativity and Craft for Your PhD for graduate schools in London.

His latest book, for which he was given an Arts Council literature award to help with eleven years research and writing, is COSMOSAPIENS Human Evolution from the Origin of the Universe. It was selected by two reviewers as The Book of the Year in The Times Literary Supplement and as one of the Best Science Books of 2015 by The Telegraph.
