Keith became a full-time writer when he left Bristol University in 1981. He has written plays, screenplays and non-fiction books as well as working as a producer and director of factual programmes for the BBC. He was a winner of the National Screenwriting Competition in 1987 for his original screenplay The Blue Pearl. In 1993 he won the BT science journalism of the year award for his TV documentary about the Sizewell ‘B’ power station. In 2000 he won a children’s Bafta award for his work co-creating and co-writing the BBC children’s TV animation series Pablo: the little red fox.

Keith’s five non-fiction titles with major publishers include Unexplained Natural Phenomena for Orion in 1998 and The Scientist, the Madman, the Thief and their Lightbulb (2002), which was published by Simon & Schuster with a foreword by Sir Arthur C. Clarke. Keith also writes children’s picture books, including Pablo Goes Hunting (which was published in June 2005) and Pablo Meets the Neighbours. With the illustrator Daniel Saunders, Keith has co-created the comic strip/graphic novel project Lard Wants World Peace!

Keith started writing prose fiction in 2001. His first novel A to Z was completed under the Arts Council’s escalator scheme, after being selected by the New Writing Partnership in 2005. He also runs courses on scriptwriting, most recently with the support of Skillset, FDMX (Norwich) and Screen East. He has worked as a visiting lecturer providing students with script and storytelling support at the Norwich University of the Arts.
