Maisie Chan is an award-winning children’s author. Her debut Danny Chung Does Not Do Maths (Piccadilly Press) won the Branford Boase award and Jhalak prize in 2022. It was also shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book awards. Her second novel, Keep Dancing, Lizzie Chu was shortlisted for the Juniper Book awards. It was also longlisted for the Diverse Book awards 2023. The North American version was listed as one of Kirkus Review’s best middle-grade books of 2023. 

Maisie also writes the Tiger Warrior series (Hachette) and has written a collection of fairy-tale and legend retellings (Scholastic). She was a contributor to the bestselling The Very Merry Murder Club (Farshore), a Waterstones book of the month title. She has been commissioned to write stories for various anthologies and organisations such as Historic Environment Scotland and BBC Scotland. She has led creative writing workshops for Arvon, Scottish Book Trust, Writing West Midlands, and BBC Teach. She was the Dr Gavin Wallace Fellow at Moat Brae funded by Creative Scotland. She has been a Scottish Book Trust writer in residence twice. 

Maisie is also a screenwriter. Her short film Folding (British Film Institute and Screen Scotland funded) was shown at film festivals in the UK and in Berlin. She was on BBC Writeroom’s Scottish Voices scheme; and wrote an episode of Pip and Posy for Magic Light Pictures. She frequently goes into schools to inspire and lead creative sessions. She lives in Glasgow with her family.
