Mike Harris is a scriptwriter and theatre director. He has written over 150 scripts for radio, stage and television, including soaps and serials, adaptations, one-off dramas, theatre in education, youth and children’s theatre and large-scale community plays. He teaches part-time on the MA in writing at Sheffield Hallam University and has published in international academic journals and anthologies, including The Handbook of Creative Writing (Edinburgh University Press, 2007) and The Good Fiction Guide (Oxford University Press, 2001) for which he was assistant editor.

He has been writer-in-residence at the Abraham Moss Theatre in Manchester, University College, Cork, the Lemon Tree Arts Centre in Aberdeen and HMPs Wakefield, New Hall and Doncaster, and has run writing workshops for the British Council in Malaysia and Nigeria. He received a Sony award for a radio drama series in 2011. In previous lives Mike worked for Drum magazine in Zambia, ran a muckraking ‘alternative newspaper’, and taught in Manchester comprehensive schools.
