Sue Gee

Sue Gee is the author of 10 novels, including most recently Coming Home (2013) about the return from India after Independence in 1947. Earlier novels include The Mysteries of Glass (2004), which was longlisted for the 2005 Orange prize for fiction; Reading in Bed (2007), selected for the Daily Mail book club; Letters from Prague (1994), which was serialised on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour; and The Hours of the Night, which attracted wide critical acclaim and won the 1995 Romantic Novel of the Year award. Her short-story collection Last Fling was published in 2011. Her play Ancient & Modern, starring Juliet Stevenson, was broadcast at Christmas 2004 on BBC Radio 4, where she has also broadcast short stories.

With the playwright Carl Miller, Sue Gee founded the Middlesex University MA in creative writing in 2000, and was programme leader until 2008. She now teaches at the Faber Academy, and is a mentor on the Write to Life programme at Freedom from Torture. She has given many bookshop readings and appeared at festivals including Edinburgh, Hay and Presteigne. She lives in London and Herefordshire.
