Sue Teddern’s many radio dramas include Cooking in a Bedsitter, five series of soloparentpals.com, In Mates, Sad Girl and The Charm Factory. Her first scriptwriting credit was for The Archers and she was on the writing team of Westway, the BBC World Service serial. Her television writing credits include Birds of a Feather, Bosom Pals and Happy Together. During her RLF post at the University of Essex, she got chatting with a student who had been married to a serviceman, and this conversation became the inspiration for Homefront, an ITV drama series about army families, which Sue created and co-wrote.

Sue is an experienced lecturer in creative writing. A ‘graduate’ of the Arvon Foundation, she has co-tutored courses at all their centres and served on their management council for seven years. She has lectured in screenwriting, radio drama and sitcom at Central School of Speech and Drama, City University and UEA, and is currently a panel tutor at University of Cambridge, Institute of Continuing Education. She was screenwriter-in-residence at the University of Exeter from 2002 to 2007 and taught the MA module ‘Developing the Feature Screenplay’. Sue has co-written Writing for TV and Radio: a writers’ and artists’ companion (Bloomsbury, 2015) with Nick Warburton.

Sue’s first job was as a window-dresser. She came to writing via magazine journalism, working on a wide range of titles: from 19 and My Guy to the Guardian and Holland Herald. She lives in Hove and is a founder member of The Beach Hut Writing Academy, a group of writers who run workshops and conferences in Brighton & Hove.
