WritersMosaic Quarterly – fourth edition
- 20 March, 2026
Migration may be a passport to a better future, but what do you leave behind when you migrate to a new country, and what do you carry with you physically and emotionally wherever you land?
Talismans of Migration, the fourth edition of The WritersMosaic Quarterly, is out now, available as a print insert in The Bookseller as well as on the WritersMosaic website.
WritersMosaic’s latest publication tells the true-life stories of nine migrants and their descendants who have travelled to the UK, exploring the emotional cost of migration through some of the objects carried across countries and continents.
These physical and emotional ‘talismans’ include a sturdy pink suitcase, a magical toy, a beloved musical instrument and a selection of summer suits. Writers Eric Ngalle Charles, Snežana Ćurčić, Ishy Din, Colin Grant, Suzanne Harrington, Maggie Harris, Maria Jastrzębska, Roger Robinson and Amanda Vilanova reflect on the succour and strength that such objects – the unique talismans of migration – provide: those steadying anchors which provide stability in the face of daunting movement.
Colin Grant, Director of WritersMosaic, also introduces Talismans of Migration in the latest print and digital issue of this month’s Bookseller. Read it here.
The WritersMosaic Quarterly is produced by and primarily features writers of the global majority, both in and outside the UK. The first edition, Malcolm X: By any means necessary, was published in May 2025; the second edition, Iranian Women’s Voices, was released in September 2025; and the third edition, Frantz Fanon: Revolutionary Psychiatrist, was published in December 2025.
