The third edition of The WritersMosaic Quarterly is available now, as a print insert in The Bookseller as well as on the WritersMosaic website. WritersMosaic Quarterly 03: Frantz Fanon: Revolutionary Psychiatrist is an exploration of Fanon’s legacy 100 years after his birth, bringing together a group of writers to explore Fanon’s radical work as a psychiatrist, his literature and his commitment to the fight against colonialism.
The publication features a selection of carefully curated and provoking contributions from Khaldoon Ahmed, Zebib K. Abraham, Clementine Ewokolo Burnley, Isabelle Dupuy, Ekow Eshun, Colin Grant, Taíno Mendez, Zoe Mohaput, Chitra Ramaswamy and Roger Robinson (all pictured above – clockwise, l-r).
Inspired by the Afro-Caribbean writer’s seminal texts, Black Skin, White Masks (1952) and The Wretched of the Earth (1961) – both classics of anti-colonial literature – the varied contributions draw out nuanced lessons and urgent wisdom from Fanon, which still resonate today. Fellow psychiatrists and writers explore how they look to Fanon in their practice, finding sustenance in his ideas in the trying times and tensions of today. Another essay adopts the voice of Fanon himself, as a young psychiatrist arriving in colonial Algeria in 1953, re-imaging the life experiences which led to his seminal texts. Other contributions delve into the poignancy of Fanon’s astute observations about the embodied, lived experience of racialisation, and how these powerful insights transcend his time, impacting their own lives today.
The WritersMosaic Quarterly is produced by and primarily features writers of the global majority, both in and outside the UK. The first edition, Malcolm X: By any means necessary, was published in May 2025 and the second edition, Iranian women’s voices, was released in September 2025.
