Abigail Mann

Non-fiction writer, Novelist, Short-story writer

About

Abigail Mann is a novelist and writer of contemporary fiction, short stories, and nonfiction, with humour often an identifying feature of Abigail’s work. Her debut novel, a story about the unlikely friendship between intergenerational housemates, The Lonely Fajita (2020), placed as runner-up in the inaugural Comedy Women in Print awards (2019) and went on to publication with HarperCollins. Since then, Abigail has published two more novels, The Sister Surprise (2021) and The Wedding Crasher (2022).

Abigail’s books have been featured in publications such as Elle, The Bookseller, and the Apple book of the month. In addition to her novels, Abigail is a writing coach and creative writing tutor. Her workshops are regular sell-outs and have covered topics such as plotting, choosing ideas, and characterisation.

Abigail was a teacher before embarking on a writing career and is passionate about broadening access to creative writing for young people. She taught in Yorkshire before moving to South East London but often spends time in her home county, Norfolk. She has a keen interest in vintage fashion, sitcoms, and will give any sort of craft a go. She regularly writes for her Substack publication, Not A Write Off, which aims to champion the smallest of creative achievements whilst juggling the demands of motherhood.

Abigail is completing her fourth novel, The Great Thirtieth Trip (2025), and is working on a sitcom with a writing partner, which follows a group of trainee teachers through their first year of school placement.
